Visitors welcome Iranian titles at 8th Lebanon International Book Fair
Lebanon-The 8th Lebanon International Book Fair was held from October 13 to 22 in Beirut, in which Iran Book and Literature House represented the Islamic Republic, showcasing 1,200 titles on a variety of topics.
This year’s edition of the fair featured 155 publishers from 21 countries including Iran, Qatar, Oman, Palestine, the UAE, Syria, and Iraq.
The titles presented at Iran pavilion at the fair were received by the Lebanese. The most popular books included the martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani's autobiography titled “I Feared Nothing” and “Remember,” which is about the martyr Hamid Siahkali Moradi’s life told from the perspective of his wife.
Books about the martyrs of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war were also attractive to the Lebanese, including the books related to the martyr Ibrahim Hadi.
Also presented at the pavilion, there were books on the life the of the former President of Iran Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani as well as titles about some other Iranian Muslim scientists.
Most of the visitors to Iran's pavilion were teenagers and young people who came to the exhibition either with their families or as a group from schools. Books for children and young adults with attractive illustrations, such as a three-volume collection by Tehran-based French writer and illustrator of children’s books Claire Joubert, were among the titles families purchased for their children.
As the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, conducted by Hamas from the Gaza Strip onto bordering areas in Israel, happened while the fair was underway, Iran Book and Literature House and the cultural attaché of the Islamic Republic in Lebanon prepared special programs for Palestine including book unveiling ceremonies, introduction of Palestine Literature World Award, and holding poetry reading sessions.
The 8th Lebanon Book Fair showcased a variety of titles in the fields of religion, children's, resistance literature, Iran and the Middle East, world literature, as well as French and English works that were presented by representatives of major foreign publishers.
The Lebanon International Book Fair is organized by the Lebanese Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Syndicate of Publishers Union. It should not be confused with Beirut International and Arab Book Fair that is organized by the Arab Cultural Club and the Syndicate of Publishers Union.
While the Lebanon International Book Fair experienced its 8th edition last week, the Beirut International and Arab Book Fair will have its 64th edition in December.
